  Perhaps the coolest online high school, WiloStar3D Interactive Academy promotes an academic environment based on immersive learning. It provides students with a virtual reality universe called WiloWorlds where students learn by doing.

  For example, on a typical day, a student might be doing role-play of an historical figure. They also might be learning 3D computer programming, or be putting on a play.

  The example used by WiloStar3D is how it uses the Jules Verne novel, Journey to the Center of the Earth. Students design their own online volcano world, discuss volcanoes as part of the science curriculum, and participate in a literature study group.
