I am a single 25 year old mother of one living in North Carolina. I am a high school drop out and I am in need of my high school diploma. I have no high school credits to my knowledge and I am on a very very low budget. I am looking for more information on the best online schools that offer either free schooling or a very very low tution rate. I need HELP ASAP so,that I may obtain my diploma to provide a better a life and way of living for me and my child. Any information given to me is greatly appreciated..

Hi SunShyne,

You have a couple of options:

1. You can talk to the North Carolina Virtual Public School. While I suspect you are too old for their program, they might be able to send you in the right direction.

2. Consider the GED program. This is really geared for adults and is increasingly accepted in place of a high school diploma. If your community has an adult school, it probably has a GED preparation program. By the way, there is no legitimate way to earn a GED online.

3. Consider one of the more inexpensive programs listed on this site. The least expensive program of which I am aware on this site is probably Penn Foster High School. Talk to them about what the monthly cost might be, but I do know they have a payment program.
