Penn Foster vs Keystone National 2008/07/06 00:24 Karma: 0
Thanks for the last reply. My dilema is that although Penn has been around for ages, It's website I find is not as comprehensive as Keystone's. It does not give any 'demo' pages to even indicate if coursework can be completed via email. I tried several times to get in touch with a representative- I got through, but it was more like a customer s ervice centre where no-one really could answer questions that weren't on the script. I really needed to know if labs were included in the science subjects and although textbooks are supplied, can everything be submitted via email, it just listed Spanish - is it Spanish 1,2,3,4? My initial experience was not good as because as a distance based learning center I expected more knowledgeable people. All they wanted was my credit card details and to sign up.

I went to look at the Penn Foster High School website. Did you go to the part that has the course descriptions (which you can access from their home page)? It seems to give fairly detailed information about the courses. My thought is that, if it doesn't list something, they don't do it.

I think one of the things that you discover with Penn Foster is that it is less online than other programs; rather more of a hybrid, it seems. You complete assignments off-line for the most part, but some of the instructional tools are online.

I did notice that it lists two ways to turn in assignments. One is through regular mail and the other is via its website. Since it does not list the ability to submit using email, I would take that at face value.

As for Spanish, it appears to list first year Spanish only.

Thoughts?
