Need Advice in this area 2008/04/04 00:49 Karma: 0
I am 32 years old and I think I had somewhere around 12 High School credits earned before I dropped out in the early 90's. I would like any recomendations on what I should pursue in the way of earning a diploma.

I could always take the state GED route. I would be looking at 5 - 10 weeks of preparation courses as I am not confident I have retained enough to just pass the test anyhow. With this being said and the fact that I do have verifiable earned High School credits. Would it be more advantageous to pursue and online diploma where my credits would be transfered? My biggest concern is completing such a program only to be laughed at when trying to utilize the diploma to enroll at a local community college. Whatever route I go I have to make sure it will be valid and viewed as a real diploma.

Ultimately my goals are to start at a community college in order to transfer to the state university in to earn a degree as a pharmacist.

Thanks

Ken

Definitely you should pursue the high school diploma. I would choose one of the programs that specializes in adults like Penn Foster High School or Citizens High School.

Since those choices are both accredited, there should be no problem with them being acceptable to a community college. That being said, it is always a good idea to check with the college first. I cannot imagine that there would be a problem.

If the diploma program doesn't work out, you can always do the GED program later.

Questions?
