New York City wants an online high school
September 30th, 2008Surprisingly, New York City has no public online high schools. Why? Because it is written into their state’s education code that a certain percentage of a course must include “seat time.” This is time physically in a classroom. I suspect that when this code was passed, it made sense. It no longer does. The folks at the Board of Education feel the same, so it is only a matter of time before online courses become available to New York City students.
