Free Online High School Listings Done!

September 28th, 2008

Loyal readers will note that today, this very day, I have posted the last of the free online high schools. Over these last few months, I have been regularly posting on this topic of interest to many of you.

Now, have I missed your school? Are you a teacher, a student, an administrator, a parent, anyone related to a free online high school that is not listed here? If so, leave a comment or send me an email. This is a dynamic list, so I am happy to put up new schools as well (provided they meet the BOHS guidelines).

Besides Insight (even though Los Angeles was not specifically mentioned on the Free Online high school site, nothing mentioned for California) do either Kaplan Academy http://www.kaplanacademy.com/california/losangeles/index.asp and/or Connections http://www.connectionsacademy.com/ meet BOHS standards?
    Thanks,
    Concerned Parent

Both of those schools are definitely acceptable choices. While Kaplan Academy has not made its way onto the site just yet, Connections Academy has been here for quite some time. They are just listed under their specific names (like South Carolina Connections Academy, etc.).

    Thanks for the question.

    Thanks Tom,
Have you received any feedback from parents or ??? that would make you lean in favor of one of those three schools (Kaplan, Insight, Connections) over the other? We are applying for their spring semester. Thanks again for a great site and your feedback.

In California, I have heard less about Kaplan, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything (because they are newer). I think any of the three is a good choice and that is what I have heard. More often than not, I will hear negative comments. I have not had any about them. Probably it works out to which is best for you. I would ask to look at the curriculum, perhaps get a “trial account” of some kind, to get an impression of what the program is like.
