One of the early entrants into online high schooling, Utah’s Electronic High School has come a long way. Most of its students are part-time; either making up credits or working to get ahead.
Do you know of a school that I have missed in the database? Go ahead and leave a comment on this post and I will check it out. I am always looking for new schools.
That being said, note that I am looking for legitimate schools.

The name “Kaplan” has long been associated with education, so it should come as no surprise that they operate colleges and high schools. What may surprise some readers is that Kaplan now operates three online high schools. And, of course, we have all three up on the site. They are:
Kaplan University High School offers programs for adult students and the focus of Kaplan College Preparatory School and Kaplan High School are on the teen crowd. My experience with Kaplan, both personally and professionally, is that it is important to them to offer a quality product to their students. I think you would be pleased with any of these three schools.
Best Online High Schools is pleased to announce that The American Academyis now a featured school on this website. While a newer school, it is already accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS). This is a not inconsiderable feat.
From its listing:
The American Academy (TAA) is an online private high school that operates through its own NAAS accreditation and through a public-private partnership with one of the nation’s first public online high schools. The program has served more than 80,000 students since its inception in 1994.
As I have said here and elsewhere, some online high schools are desperately in search of professionalism. Take a look at their website. They are the real deal!
It was announced this week that Minnesota will be getting another online high school. Minnesota Virtual Academy, which had already been providing online courses for K-8 students, will now be offering a high school program as well. This program will use the curriculum from K12.com.
When I first heard that the Apollo Group was purchasing Insight Schools, I was a little perplexed. Apollo Group, owners of the University of Phoenix, are known for doing things that make money. Clearly, given the rapidly-growing list below, they are able to do exactly that and I would not be surprised if a decent number of these students went on to attend UOP.
However and importantly, not only are they making money by offering free online high schools, but they are offering a quality education.
Yes, that’s right. We now have 104 online high schools in our database. While there are more out there, the number is growing quickly. One of the larger growth areas has been free online high schools. While they have the strictest enrollment rules, they are free.
I came across this nice video for Insight School of California - Los Angeles. Very nice and a trend (that of having videos promoting your school) that will surely continue!
