How to earn a high school diploma online, part 1
March 8th, 2008I am often asked how to earn a high school diploma online. While it seems fairly straight-forward to me, it’s easy to forget that others have not been in the biz as long as I have (and that’s okay!). Over the next couple of weeks, I will be giving specific advice and recommendations for what you should to earn a high school diploma from an online high school.
Decide what it is you need. Do you need an entire program or do you just need a few courses? Which school is the right choice depends a great deal on the answer to this question. Why is this so important? Two reasons.
1. Cost. Sometimes what is a good deal for an entire program is not a good deal for one course. There are some quite cheap programs that offer significantly more expensive single courses.
2. Time. Programs take very different amounts of time. If you just need a couple of courses, it may be okay to choose a program where the courses take more time. You may want to choose very differently if you have most of the diploma program to complete.
Homework assignment: Request a copy of your transcripts from your old high school(s). You will need this to determine where to start.
